Ice looking towards 2011

The Melbourne Ice have brushed off their 2010 Championship season and have already looked towards defending that crown, with the addition of import Adam Taylor for the 2011 AIHL season.

A versitle hockey player, Adam Taylor can play at either C or RW and will be able to add plenty of experience to the Ice squad. Currently playing for the Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite Ice Hockey League, which is the highest level of Ice Hockey competition in the United Kingdom. Taylor will add plenty of spark to the Ice lineup, with his vision for goal a stand out.

Born in Campbell River, British Columbia, Taylor comes from a strong Canadian hockey back ground. He spent 5 years on the Kootany Ice roster, playing in the WHL, which is a very strong competition which caters for players from NHL clubs, who are yet to receive official roster call ups.

At the age of 26, Taylor seems to be finding career best form at the moment. 19 games into the currently EIHL season, Taylor has tallied 15 goals, 17 assists for a total of 32 points.A big step up from his previous season for the Victoria Salmon Kings, where 69 games seen a total of 31 points.

Melbourne will obviously be looking to Taylor for plenty of scoring action come 2011, but more importantly, his leadership will be something that will give the Ice coaching panel plenty to smile about. Not only does Taylor have plenty of experience across different parts of the world, but he possess plenty of leadership qualities as well. His first season in Edinburgh has seen Taylor being handed the A, a very good sign of what Melbourne can expect for next season.

Not only are Melbourne the current & defending champions, but having Adam Taylor already signed up for 2011, shows that the Ice mean business.
